About Me

Welcome to FoodieNotAChef!

My name is Tiffany, face and photographer behind FoodieNotaChef. I created this food Blog to showcase Afro-Caribbean infused recipes and so much more! Here, you will find vibrant, creative and restaurant quality meals that you can create in the comfort of your own home. It’s my joy to inspire you on food presentations and trying new things. I do not know about you, but I eat with my eyes first! 😊 Throughout the blog, you will find recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and some delicious appetizers that I am absolutely obsessed with. I have also added a vegetarian section to highlight some of my favorite meatless recipes.

I send WEEKLY recipes to my subscribers which bring me so much joy to do. All the recipes that I send are great breakfast/dinner/lunch ideas that I cook at home. Life can get busy and you do not always know what to prepare for the family. Therefore, my hope is that these recipes can provide you with inspiration and ideas to plan your meals for your family.

My Story

I am a pharmacist by day and on my off days I enjoy being in the kitchen. Like many it is a great form of therapy for me. I get super excited about getting in the kitchen and trying new recipes. I have been enjoying the entire experience of connecting with so many of you 😊 and having my own little space on the internet. I am 100 % Guyanese and moved to the United States when I was in secondary school (big up to my CCSS folks). Learned all that I know from my mom who worked in food service for many years. Lucky for me, she passed down everything she knows about cooking. Thanks mom!! I am married to my awesome husband who’s from Ghana and he’s the inspiration for the Ghanaian dishes I post. We met in Pharmacy school and he is my professional unpaid taste tester and food critic. We have a little one named Ian who keeps us on our toes and obsessed with Elmo.

I am not a chef by any means just a working mom that loves to cook the way my mom taught me. I started my blog in June 2020 and I am excited to grow along with all of you.

My Inspiration comes from so many different sources such as my husband, my mom, the Internet and binge watching the Food Network. I believe that you can take any simple meal and make it look and taste delicious by adding colors and garnishments. There is no rulebook for cooking, don’t be afraid to be creative and free. If your food tastes and looks delicious, you are on the right track.

Returning to the Blogosphere

Life has an incredible way of leading us into seasons that require our full attention and devotion. For the past three years, I’ve been living one of those transformative chapters. My heart’s focus shifted entirely to nurturing my family and navigating the exciting yet daunting process of transitioning to a new state. Today, however, marks my return to something else that brings me immense joy: blogging.

If you’re reading this, thank you for joining me as I reconnect with this creative space. Allow me to share a bit about where I’ve been and where we’re heading together from here.

Why I Stepped Away

Three years ago, life shifted…I got pregnant with my second child and boy did things change quickly! Lol. Balancing motherhood, family responsibilities, and the demands of moving to a new state left little room for much else. As a Caribbean woman, community has always been at the heart of my identity. Moving to a new place meant rediscovering how to cultivate that sense of belonging in unfamiliar surroundings. It took time and effort to settle into a rhythm where everyone in my family felt supported and at peace.

During this period, I realized that stepping away from blogging wasn’t so much a failure but a Gift. My family needed my full attention—and to be honest, I needed time to learn and grow through these changes myself.

What I’ve Learned

Growth happens in quiet moments. These three years taught me patience, resilience, and the beautiful rediscovery of myself. My faith in God played a huge role in my transformation and growth.

I’ve also come to appreciate the power of slowing down. As a creative person, it’s easy to feel pressured to produce, to constantly share updates or create something that you lose sight of your original vision. Stepping away allowed me to redefine my goal for the blog, which is to create Easy, Approachable, quality Afro-Caribbean infused recipes that the entire family can enjoy.
